New Partnership Rule the Day at Woodside Spring Dressage June 4, 2012

Woodside Spring Dressage (May 17-20) kicked off Cornerstone Event Management's Northern California dressage series. Several horse and rider teams who have been together for less than a year not only got some great show ring experience at a beautiful facility, they rose to the occasion and earned top honors.

Vicky Stashuk-Matisi was thrilled to win the Markel/Cornerstone Open High Point Champion and all of her classes in first and second level with her Springfield. They performed consistently throughout the weekend and earned scores in first level of 73.871%, 74.839%, and 73.387%, with a respectable 65% in second level. "I imported Springfield a year ago from Germany, when she was barely four years old," Vicky said of her Westphalian mare sired by Sir Donnerhall out of Gianna. "I selected her at a premium elite auction held each spring in Germany at the Westphalian Horse Centre in Muenster-Handorf. I got on her and said, 'Wow.' She gave such a good feeling under saddle: the power, three excellent gaits, good attitude. We showed her in training level at Woodside last year, and she was high point then, so she was high point both years. She was quite young and it was her first show in the United States so she was a little wild, but we still scored in the mid 70s. Now she's a great show horse, just a super, super horse. Even in our second level test this weekend, I felt like it didn't go well, but we got 65% anyway. She's of super quality, so even with a few mistakes we still got a good score."
